Nonprofit and association insurance in Spokane
Boards, volunteers and events. Nonprofits carry a liability profile that looks nothing like a commercial business of the same size.
Directors and officers
Board members of a nonprofit can be named personally in a claim over a governance decision. D&O coverage protects them and is frequently the condition on which good board members agree to serve at all. Washington's volunteer immunity statutes help but do not prevent being sued, and they do not pay for a defence.
Volunteers
Volunteers are generally not employees, which means workers' compensation may not respond when one is injured. Volunteer accident coverage fills that gap and costs very little relative to the goodwill at stake.
Events
Fundraisers, galas and community events frequently need their own certificate — venues ask for it, and alcohol at the event changes the requirement again. Plan those a few weeks out rather than the day before.
Biggest exposures in this class
